Olmeca GrietfestOlmeca South Africa was the headline sponsor of Grietfest - the ultimate alternative music festival, set in the deep, dark container shipping-yard of Joburg City. The MMMob was charged to capture the energy of this big-bass event.
Grietfest is a grungy electronic music festival, which takes place in a gigantic shipping container-yard, in Joburg’s City Deep. The Grietfest stage is known for platforming fresh talent from our shores and further afield, in alternative genres including Drum ‘N Bass, Gqom, Grime, Techno, BigBass, DanceHall and Hip Hop.
The headline sponsor of the dance party is Olmeca Tequila, the perfect fuel for party goers who are devoted to the dancefloor. Mobile Media Mob was commissioned by Olmeca, to capture the energy of the event, and create a Grietfest Aftermovie.

The MMMob Approach
The MMMob assigned a small, agile Jozi-based Video Team to the job: a Creative Director, Field Producer, Videographer and Camera Assistant. The nimble crew could easily weave through the crowds, and switch-up scenes around the vast yard.
The crew had a pre-planned shotlist to guide them through the event, ensuring they got shots of the different dancefloors and bars, and didn’t miss a beat of Olmeca’s activation area.
MMM shot footage from the vehicle as we approached the towering and extensive yard. This was the perfect way to give context of the venue. At Golden Hour the team was ready to roll, capturing shots of the crowd easing into the event. The Camera Assistant, also a licensed Drone Pilot, filmed unreal aerial perspectives of the epic venue.
Once the party was over, we dispatched the footage to MMM’s Video Editor in Cape Town, and within 48hours, our client had the first cut of their Aftermovie – the final version was published just a few days thereafter.
