Lawrence Hart “Hear Ur Heartbeat” Music Video
A dreamlike Cape Town Music Video Production built through movement, practical effects, and large-scale stunt work.
Director Dave East, commissioned by Domino Record Company for Lawrence Hart, teamed up with Mobile Media Mob to produce the “Hear Ur Heartbeat” Music Video.
Mobile Media Mob is a South African Production Company working with Advertising Agencies, Brands, and Creative Teams to produce Multi-Platform Campaign Assets, TV Commercials, Social Media Content, and Live Event Coverage.
For this project, MMMob provided support across Pre-Production, and Shoot-Production for this visually experimental Music Video. This project would later earn a UK Music Video Awards nomination for 2024 Video of the Year. The job combined guerrilla-style city shooting, beach sequences, club environments, specialist stunt coordination, and a large-scale levitation setup at Zandvlei Resort in Cape Town.
The Brief
Director Dave East approached MMMob to collaborate on the Music Video for Lawrence Hart’s “Hear Ur Heartbeat”, commissioned by Domino Record Company. The project formed part of a larger back-to-back Production setup, with two separate Music Videos for two different artists, filmed across the same Production window.
The concept followed a lone protagonist drifting through beaches, city streets, nightlife spaces, and surreal dream environments while searching for himself, his people, and a sense of belonging. The story builds towards an ambitious levitation sequence, where the characters rise into the sky together.
Director Dave East shaped the visual language around slow shutter photography, distorted optics, motion blur, and physical movement. Camera packages included the Sony FX6 and Arri Alexa Mini, paired with Laowa 12mm lenses, Angenieux zoom lenses, diffusion filters, diopters, and Easyrig systems. The team also worked with Vaseline, coloured film overlays, and practical optical distortion techniques applied directly onto filters. Lighting included Aputure and Skypanel fixtures, alongside handheld practical lighting.
In other words, the brief was simple: make it feel like a dream, but build it safely in the real world.

The MMMob Approach
Developing the treatment was a collaborative process between Director Dave East, Artist Lawrence Hart, and the MMMob. References from nostalgic club culture, distorted portrait photography, and experimental fashion films informed the creative direction.
Once the budget was approved, MMMob moved into technical planning, location scouting, and Production logistics. The stunt work required multiple technical recces, gear checks, and rehearsals, to ensure the levitation sequences could be executed safely.
DOP Nick Burton Moore was selected for his physically active camera approach, and ability to operate handheld setups across demanding shoot days. Lead performer Bjorn Cupido was discovered through Instagram, and chosen for his expressive dance style and physicality, which became central to the visual identity of the film.
The Art Of Making A Plan
This was a Music Video Production with a lot of moving parts: spontaneous inner-city movement sequences, blue-hour beach scenes, live nightclub filming, highway and street locations, specialist stunt rigging, and a final levitation setup involving a Manitou MRT 2150 rotating telehandler.
The Production needed to feel loose, instinctive, and emotionally driven on camera, while remaining tightly controlled behind the scenes. MMMob helped keep the Production practical, safe, and responsive across changing locations, small crew setups, stunt requirements, Cape Town weather, and the usual Production truth: if something can get windy at sunset, it probably will.
The Shoot
Shoot Day 1 took place on a Friday evening with a minimal Crew: Bjorn, Director, DOP, Executive Producer, and 2nd AC. The team moved through Cape Town’s inner city, capturing spontaneous movement sequences, with the 2nd AC directing a spotlight out of a moving car window to isolate Bjorn.
A standout sequence saw Bjorn dancing amongst blurred traffic and city lights at the CTICC Traffic Circle. The Crew later moved to Evol nightclub during an active party environment, filming amongst real clubgoers and friends of Director Dave East. Lawrence Hart appeared as the DJ, allowing his performance to be integrated naturally into the final video.
Shoot Day 2 began before sunrise, with a skeleton crew arriving at Camps Bay Beach around 4am, to capture the opening sequence during blue hour. The early call time gave the team untouched sand, empty beaches, and cool dawn light before the location became busy. Additional scenes were filmed at a highway offramp, and across empty city streets.
The Production then moved to Zandvlei Resort in Lakeside, for the final levitation sequence. The location was chosen for its open space, mountain backdrop, and water foreground. A Manitou MRT 2150 rotating telehandler fitted with stunt trussing, harnesses, pulleys, and winch systems, became the centrepiece of the setup. The stunt and rigging teams spent hours preparing and testing the system before filming began. Director Dave East was the first person hoisted into the air during rehearsals. As sunset approached, the crew worked against increasing wind and dropping temperatures, to complete the aerial sequences. Multiple performers were lifted at varying heights above the lakeside landscape, while the stunt team monitored safety systems throughout.
The final setup involved an industrial wind machine supplied by the Firehouse Effects Team. Bjorn moved through darkness against powerful gusts while struggling beneath a plastic bag stretched over his head, creating the surreal closing image of the film.
Post-Production
The footage was sent to Editor Dave Warren, and the Post-Production team at Cheat in London.
This project shows MMMob’s ability to support Record Labels, Artists, and Directors across Music Video Pre, Shoot, and Post-Production.
