Irene Skylakaki Music Video Trilogy
A Cinematic Music Video Production Across Dunes, Forests, Mountains, and a Collapsing Rave Set.
For Irene Skylakaki’s album rollout, Mobile Media Mob produced three interconnected Music Videos across two intensive Shoot Days in the Western Cape. Commissioned by Fine! Records and directed by longtime MMMob collaborator Dave East, the trilogy was built as one cinematic world across three tracks: “Dead People,” “Hell + MRI,” and “No Shame.”
Mobile Media Mob is a South African Production Company working with Advertising Agencies, Brands, and Creative Teams to produce Multi-Platform Campaign Assets, TV Commercials, Social Media Content, and Live Event Coverage.
The Brief
The brief was not small. Naturally. But the creative ambition was clear: introduce a new era for the artist with a bold, strange, and cinematic body of work. Rather than producing three separate Music Videos, the MMMob developed one connected visual language across all three tracks.
“Dead People” was shaped as a collision between madness and beauty. It moved through mountains, dunes, forests, and isolated performance spaces, with Irene and her dancers appearing on a recurring raised platform.
“Hell + MRI” pushed the trilogy into a raw rave environment. The Set Build Team constructed a custom nightclub shell designed to collapse open, revealing the club isolated within the mountains.
“No Shame” returned to the raised platform as a central performance space, using slow shutter photography, repeated physical gestures, and sweeping TechnoCrane movement to create a dreamlike tension.

The MMMob Approach
The MMMob treated the trilogy as a cinematic Music Video Production, not a standard performance shoot.
The first major decision was to build the project around real Western Cape locations. Director Dave East and Executive Producer Thoban Jappie completed an eight-hour location scout across the province, locking in Atlantis Dunes, West Coast Fossil Park, Taal Monument, and NV Film Studios. Once the locations were confirmed, 1st AD Dwayne Titus had the small matter of turning the impossible into a two-day Production Schedule.
The schedule had to balance sunset, dusk, and night shooting windows with long company moves, complex technical setups, choreography, set builds, drone work, TechnoCrane movement, and multiple performance environments. Once the MMMob knew the plan could hold, the team went back on the road for an eight-hour Tech Recce with all Heads of Department.
Measure twice. Shoot across four locations in two days.
The Art Of Making A Plan
Irene Skylakaki landed in Cape Town just 48 hours before cameras rolled. She moved straight into wardrobe fittings, choreography rehearsals, cover visualisers, and album artwork with Director Dave East. At the same time, the Art Department and Set Build Teams were constructing two key Production elements: the raised platform and the collapsible nightclub shell.
Then the Production challenges began to arrive.
The platform was too large for a standard trailer, especially for the Atlantis Dunes location. Executive Producer Thoban Jappie sourced ex-military trucks to move the structure and technical gear through the dunes.
The MMMob also built a tag-team Production System. One unit prepared upcoming technical setups while another continued filming at a separate location. This approach kept the Production moving, even when the Set Build Team’s truck got stuck in fourth gear and the 1st AD’s car ran out of petrol in the middle of nowhere.
Very normal Production behaviour.
At West Coast Fossil Park, the Art Department discovered their ladders were too short to drape the location in curtains. The Grip Team stepped in and saved the setup. Back at NV Film Studios, the Crew chased the last light of the day while the Executive Producer and Set Build Team wandered into pin-cushion flower fields not yet cleared by the snake wrangler.
The Shoot
Shoot Day 1 moved through multiple locations, balancing performance, landscape, movement, and technical coverage across the trilogy.
Shoot Day 2 began at Taal Monument under clear skies before returning to NV Film Studios for the final major sequences. Two Set Build Teams worked at the same time: one focused on the platform, while the other built the nightclub shell for the rave environment.
The final nightclub scene became the most technically demanding moment of the Production. The team had to coordinate massive lighting rigs, TechnoCrane movement, strobe setups, drone-mounted LED lighting, choreography, cast movement, and the collapsing shell, all with less than thirty minutes of usable light remaining.
Then the shell collapsed before cameras were rolling.
The team reset.
Then the shell collapsed again, this time onto one of the set builders.
The team reset again.
Third time’s the charm. The MMMob landed the shot and wrapped Production.
Post-Production
Post-Production moved to London, where the focus shifted to preserving the feeling that all three Music Videos belonged to the same cinematic universe.
The edit used rhythmic match cuts, fragmented movement, sweeping crane shots, slow shutter visuals, and atmospheric transitions to connect the different locations and performance worlds. The aim was to make dunes, forests, mountains, platforms, and the rave set feel like parts of one visual journey.
RAW camera masters and ProRes LT editorial files were prepared for a streamlined offline workflow. Synced audio, separate LUTs, and organised rushes gave the Post-Production Team flexibility throughout the edit and finishing process. Colour grading played a major role in shaping the trilogy’s identity, while subtle VFX helped connect the surreal visual language across all three films.
For Advertising Agencies, Record Labels, Artists, and Creative Teams, this is where MMMob’s full-service Production model becomes clear: Pre-Production, Shoot-Production, Post-Production, and Multi-Platform Delivery.

The Result
The Irene Skylakaki trilogy became a bold Cape Town Music Video Production for Fine! Records, delivering three connected Music Videos, BTS Content, Social Cutdowns, Promotional Campaign Assets, and Artist Campaign Assets for a new album era. Across “Dead People,” “Hell + MRI,” and “No Shame,” the MMMob helped shape a cohesive cinematic world, built under pressure. Especially when the set collapses twice.
